Myriam Rey is a dramatherapist and filmmaker based in London. Her first short documentary, “This Island’s mine”-a meeting between Shakespeare and Autism-completed during her training with Open City Doc at UCL won the Inspiration award in 2015 from the Arts and Humanities Research Council Film Awards in London.
Her most recent film funded by Creative England, Only My Voice -a cinematic ode to freedom in which the stories of four women from the Middle-East interact with the city of Athens- was selected and developed through a scheme run by the Scottish Documentary Institute. It premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and has been selected in various festivals including Beirut International Film Festival, London Short Film Festival and Aesthetica Short Film Festival. Myriam is currently a member of the BFI Network & BAFTA Crew 2018.
Resilience in its multiple forms as well as the ambivalence experiences of freedom, are themes that constitute a conductive thread in her films.
